  • no major classical influence
  • Realistic subjects, everyday life
  • Naturalistic subjects
  • Only painting part of the Renaissance
  • Subject Matter: Domestic interiors, portraits, religious scenes
  • Painting media: oil on panel
  • Embraced Gothic for much longer
